Exercise of the Month – Stationary Bike

Improve overall health, maintaining fitness, and helps prevent cardiovascular disease.

Weight management, increased energy level, reduced blood pressure and cholesterol.

Adjust the bike:
1) Adjust the seat so that when your foot is at its lowest (or farthest forward for a recumbent¬†bike) your knee should bend only slightly. 2) Maintain contact with the pedals without needing to flex your feet. 3) Adjust handlebars so you don’t have to lean forward.

Start exercising:
1. Try to get 30 minutes of moderately intense cardiovascular exercise in each session. 2) You can substitute three 10-minute sessions or two 15-minute sessions. 3) Moderate intensity means that your heart is working and you work up a sweat.

Sunflower Wellness presents this exercise with the assistance of WebExercises. A library of exercises of the month is available at Sunflowerwellness.org.
